Our Leadership

Our leadership team knows what it takes to build a successful wealth management firm.  They’ve spent decades in the financial services industry, working with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families and institutions. They’ve walked the walk, and they understand exactly what great advisors need to deliver for their clients and optimize their practices.

Raj Bhattacharyya

Chief Executive Officer, Board Member

Raj has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, leading large franchises across trading and capital markets.

Raj spent 17 years at Deutsche Bank, in both New York and London, in various senior roles. Most recently, he was the head of the Foreign Exchange Franchise in the Americas, as well as the head of the Latin American Markets business. Previously, while based in London, he ran Capital Markets and Treasury Solutions for Western Europe, which covered all European corporations and financial institutions for their financing, risk management and treasury needs. Prior to that, he ran Debt Capital Markets and Corporate Risk Solutions in North America. Raj also spent five years at Merrill Lynch in Derivatives, and three years at Goldman Sachs in Quantitative Research.

Prior to joining Robertson Stephens, Raj, as the Founder and CEO of YY Capital, was an active investor and mentor to early-stage financial technology companies looking to scale their businesses.

Raj serves on the Board of Directors of Strive for College, a non-profit which connects aspiring college students with free, one-on-one, online mentoring through the entire college admissions and financial aid application process. He also sits on the Dean’s Cabinet at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University.

Raj earned his BA in Computer Science and Engineering from Harvard University. He lives in New York City with his wife and two children.

Stuart Katz

Chief Investment Officer, Principal

Stuart Katz creates and leads the firm’s investment strategy, global asset allocation, portfolio analytics, risk management, manager selection and overall long-term strategic portfolio and near-term tactical asset allocation investment process.

Stuart has more than 30 years of institutional and family office investment experience as both a direct investor and allocator across traditional public asset classes and alternative strategies.

He began his career at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he worked for 15 years in New York and London, serving in multiple roles including overseeing private equity and private credit investments in the Merchant Banking Division across financial services, media, industrial and other sectors. Stuart has served on several public and private company boards.

Working extensively with ultra high net worth investors and advisors over the years, Stuart has learned that first understanding a client’s goals and values is critical to building a strong investment portfolio. It is a philosophy he embraces at Robertson Stephens as part of a fiduciary mindset defined by transparency, unbiased advice, and the freedom to pursue the best investment option for every client. His insights have been featured across media such as CNBC.com, Reuters, Business Insider, the Wall Street Journal, InvestmentNews, CIO Magazine, Barron’s and Bloomberg Asia.

Prior to joining Robertson Stephens, Stuart also served as:

  • President and Founding Member responsible for establishment of The Heyman Enterprise LLC, a single family investment office
  • Managing Director and member of the Investment Committee of alternative asset management firm, Amber Capital LP

Stuart, who serves as Chair of the Investment Committee for Robertson Stephens, earned an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business and an AB from Dartmouth College where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude. He also studied at the London School of Economics.

He lives with his wife in New York City and enjoys cheering for his daughters in track, cross country and ultimate frisbee events.

Mallon Fitzpatrick

Managing Director, Principal, Head of Wealth Planning

Mallon FitzPatrick leads Robertson Stephens’ Wealth Planning Team and is instrumental in scaling and delivering comprehensive wealth planning solutions for high and ultra-high net worth clients. He works closely with prospects and clients to understand their immediate concerns, objectives, biases and behavioral characteristics. He collaborates with clients to develop a strategy integrating tax planning, risk management, philanthropy, liquidity and balance sheet management, estate planning and investments. Ultimately, the client is provided with a cohesive wealth plan that helps increase the likelihood of experiencing good outcomes, meets their objectives and aligns with their preferences.

He and his team also create original planning content on a weekly basis to educate clients on timely planning opportunities. Mallon was featured in the New York Times, Barron’s, Forbes, IBD, Bloomberg, and CNBC, among many other publications. He is a guest columnist for Rethinking65 and was featured on Cheddar News, Investment News, and the TD Ameritrade Network broadcasts. Mallon won a Wealthmanagement.com Wealthie award for Rising Star in 2022 and was a finalist for ThinkAdvisors Luminaries award for Thought Leadership and Education in 2023.

Mallon has over 24 years of experience in the wealth management industry. Prior to joining Robertson Stephens, Mallon was a Wealth Advisor at Safran Wealth Advisors, LLC a SEC registered investment advisor located in New York, NY. At Safran, he managed client relationships, created and implemented comprehensive plans, and was responsible for trading and investing. He founded Garden Street Advisors, a NY-registered investment advisor, and merged it into Safran Wealth Advisors. Prior to this, Mallon held senior roles on JP Morgan Private Bank’s Digital Wealth Team, Capgemini’s Wealth Management Team, and Private Client Resources, LLC. In these roles, he was primarily focused on bringing clarity to the financial lives of family offices and high/ultra-high net worth families through the use of digital wealth services.

Mallon graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He earned his CFP® through NYU’s partnership with Dalton and a CLU® from the American College of Financial Services. He is a member of the Estate Planning Council of New York City and the Financial Planning Association and serves as President of the Board for the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum.

Mallon enjoys spending weekends with his wife and two children in Sag Harbor. His interests include philosophy, sailing, rock climbing, and cooking.

Jeanette Garretty

Chief Economist, Head of Advisor Experience

Jeanette is a Principal and Managing Director at Robertson Stephens. For more than three decades, Jeanette has advised business leaders, entrepreneurs and wealthy families in the management of their personal financial needs, with a particular focus on unique market opportunities, strategic planning and philanthropy. With her colleagues throughout the firm, Jeanette engages with Robertson Stephens clients and their advisors to provide a superior experience in all facets of their relationship. Since 2018, Jeanette has also served as the Chief Economist for Robertson Stephens, working closely with the Investment Office to formulate timely and incisive analysis of business conditions and economic policy for the benefit of all client portfolios at the firm. She is regularly featured on Bloomberg, Reuters and Yahoo Finance and frequently posts breaking economic news commentary on Twitter.

Immediately prior to joining Robertson Stephens, Jeanette was Senior Vice President and Wealth Advisor for Wells Fargo Private Bank in Palo Alto, California. She started her career in the financial services industry at Bank of America as Head of Industry Analysis and Chief Domestic Economist.

Jeanette earned an M.A. and Ph.D.(abd) in Economics from Stanford, and a BS (summa cum laude) in Mathematical Economics from Santa Clara University. She continues her commitment to the advancement of knowledge in a number of roles, serving as a member of the Executive Board of the Stanford University Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR), the Advisory Board for the Stanford Institute for Research in the Social Sciences (IRiSS) , the Executive Board Member The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Chair of the Investment Committee of The Phi Beta Kappa Society and Audit Committee chair for the Board of the National Library of Israel. Jeanette is Chair Emerita of the Northern Arizona University Foundation Investment Committee and Regent Emerita at Santa Clara University.
